Tanner's Story

Just two months ago, Tanner’s world changed in an instant. A traumatic accident led to the loss of his leg above the knee—an unimaginable challenge for anyone, let alone someone so young and full of life. The road ahead seemed uncertain. But from the very beginning, Tanner met it with quiet strength and a fierce determination to move forward.
What he didn’t know then was that he wouldn’t be facing that journey alone.
At Steps4Love, we believe every amputee deserves the chance to return to life fully—not just survive, but thrive. So when we heard Tanner’s story, we knew we had to act. In partnership with Bremer O&P, we were able to get Tanner exactly what he needed: access to advanced technology that would match his potential and goals.
That technology came in the form of a C-Leg—a state-of-the-art microprocessor knee that’s far more than just a component. The C-Leg dynamically adjusts to every step, every slope, and every shift in movement, offering stability, balance, and the freedom to walk with confidence. Unlike basic mechanical knees, which often limit function and force users to walk with compensations, the C-Leg empowers amputees to walk more naturally, safely, and efficiently.
Unfortunately, many amputees never get that chance. Due to inadequate insurance coverage and strict benefit limitations, too many people are denied access to high-functioning prosthetic technology—left instead with devices that don’t match their activity level or lifestyle. This lack of access doesn’t just affect mobility—it deeply impacts mental health, independence, and overall quality of life.
That’s why we do what we do.
With his new C-Leg, Tanner took his first independent steps just two months post-amputation. His recovery has been nothing short of inspiring. Each step he takes is not just a measure of progress—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when compassion, technology, and advocacy come together.
At Steps4Love, we’re not just filling in the gaps—we’re rebuilding futures. We’re here to make sure people like Tanner aren’t defined by what they’ve lost, but empowered by what they can regain.
Thank you to our partners at Bremer, and to everyone who supports our mission to provide mobility, dignity, and opportunity to amputees across the globe! This is just the beginning for Tanner—and we can't wait to see where he goes next.
