Now I get to hold my wife's hand because I love her, not because I need her for stability.
Domingo and his wife, Maria, embarked on a journey that would forever change their lives at the Amputee Coalition National Conference in Orlando, FL. As they navigated through the bustling crowd, they stumbled into Steps 4 Love board memebers Gerry Morigerato, Dr. Scott Love, and Kira Donnelly. Excitement filled the air as they exchanged warm greetings, but their joy was soon overshadowed by concern as they noticed Domingo's unsteady gait.
Despite Domingo's determination to remain upbeat, the truth was evident - his insurance's limitations left him with a 4-bar knee that offered little stability, causing him to fear every step he took. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Steps 4 Love team sprang into action. Dr. Love and Rick Coleman, CPO, collaborated to find a solution that would provide Domingo with the stability and confidence he desperately needed.
After thorough discussions and careful consideration, Domingo found a microprocessor knee and received a new socket meticulously crafted to fit him perfectly. As he took his first steps with his new prosthetic, Domingo was overcome with disbelief. The comfort and stability he experienced were beyond anything he had ever imagined. Today, Domingo walks with confidence, unburdened by the fear of falling and holds his wife's hand by choice, not necessity.
